CHENNAI: The swearing in event of TVK chief C Joseph Vijay and his council of ministers has delayed further, with the latter falling short of the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member assembly.
CPI and CPM, having two MLAs each, supported TVK and submitted letters of support on Friday evening. The swearing-in event was anticipated on Saturday morning as VCK had earlier announced that it would follow-suit the decisions of the Left parties. The three parties act as a bloc with each having two MLAs.
VCK sources said the letter of support from the party MLAs would be submitted on Saturday morning. “TVK has informed us that the support should be in a specific format. We had earlier obtained the signatures of the MLAs in a different format. The MLAs are returning to Chennai tonight,” a senior VCK leader said.
Thirumavalavan paid a courtesy visit to chief minister M K Stalin at his Cenotaph Road on Friday night. “Since we have been in DMK-led alliance for close to a decade now, we want to part ways amicably,” he added.
