IndiGo Airlines has released a travel advisory regarding flight disruptions to and from Chennai, Tuticorin, and Madurai due to ongoing adverse weather conditions. The airline also extended its gratitude to passengers for their patience and expressed hope for a quick resolution to the challenges. "#6ETravelAdvisory: Due to adverse weather conditions, flights to/from #Chennai, #Tuticorin, and #Madurai continue to be impacted, while #Tiruchirappalli and #Salem might now also be affected," IndiGo posted on X.

Tamil Nadu Rain: Deep Depression in Bay of Bengal likely to intensify into cyclonic storm, heads toward Tamil Nadu coast
The Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestward at a speed of 13 km/h over the past six hours and was centered at 5.30am on November 27, 2024, over the same region. It was located approximately 130 km east-southeast of Trincomalee, 400 km southeast of Nagappattinam, 510 km southeast of Puducherry, and 590 km south-southeast of Chennai. It is very likely to continue moving north-northwestward and intensify further into a cyclonic storm within the next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is expected to maintain its north-northwestward trajectory toward the Tamil Nadu coast while skirting the Sri Lanka coast over the subsequent two days.

Government prepares for heavy rainfall and flooding
On Tuesday, chief minister M K Stalin held a meeting with district collectors and monitoring officers to assess the state's preparedness for the heavy rainfall forecasted by the meteorological department.
The rainfall is expected to impact several districts, including Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Cuddalore.
In response, CM Stalin instructed district administrators to be on alert and ensure ministers remain visible on the ground. He emphasized that the government is fully prepared to face the situation, with relief camps and essential resources like medical teams, earth movers, boats, and motor pumps in place.
The rainfall is expected to impact several districts, including Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Cuddalore.

The deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, located about 100 km east-northeast of Trincomalee, is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours, moving north-northwestward and skirting the Sri Lanka coast.
It is predicted to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on the morning of November 30, with wind speeds of 50-60 km/h, gusting to 70 km/h
