Tamil Nadu polls: TVK complains to EC over lack of police, traffic issues during Vijay’s campaign in Chennai
CHENNAI: A complaint from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday alleged a complete absence of police deployment and traffic regulation for its chief Vijay’s campaign convoy in Chennai, leading to a standstill of vehicles between Perambur and Kolathur. The party also alleged unequal treatment in granting campaign permissions, claiming that while Vijay was denied approval for an open-vehicle roadshow, chief minister M K Stalin was allowed to carry out such campaigning.

It said this amounted to partisan conduct and undermined the principle of a level playing field during elections. In a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer, TVK said the lack of basic security and regulation posed risks to public safety and disrupted the campaign of a recognised political party. The party urged the Election Commission to intervene immediately and sought action against officials responsible for the lapse, alleging administrative bias and failure to discharge election-related duties.
