SC/ST panel takes suo motu, seeks report

Chennai: Tamil Nadu state commission for SC/ST on Wednesday took suo motu inquiry of atrocities against Dalits in Vengaivayal village in Pudukottai district. While appreciating the district administration for the swift action against the atrocities inflicted on Dalits in Vengaivayal, the commission has directed both the Pudukkottai collector Kavitha Ramu and SP Vandita Pandey to file a detailed report of the incident.
“The commission advises the Pudukkottai district collector and SP to file a detailed report on the incidents, the action taken report and the measures taken to prevent such incidents in the future,” said P R Shivakumar, chairperson of the commission and retired HC judge in a statement.
