Chennai: In a major reshuffle in the Tamil Nadu police department on Tuesday, more than 70 police officers were transferred and promoted.
Prem Anand Sinha, inspector general of police (IGP), has been promoted as additional director general of police (ADGP) and appointed commissioner of police, Avadi. A Amalraj, ADGP, has been posted as commissioner of police, Tambaram.

Davidson Devasirvatham has been promoted as director general of police (DGP) and posted to head the Armed Police. Maheshwar Dayal has been posted as ADGP (Law and Order) for the State.
Among other senior-level changes, T S Anbu has been promoted as ADGP and posted as chief of the CB-CID, while T Senthil Kumar, IGP (West Zone), has been elevated as ADGP and posted to the DGP's office (state headquarters). Anisha Hussain has been promoted as ADGP and posted as ADGP, Crime Against Women and Children, a newly created post.
In key specialised wings, Sandeep Mittal has been promoted as DGP and will continue to head the Cyber Crime Wing, with the post upgraded from ADGP to DGP level. Bala Naga Devi has been promoted as DGP and will continue as DGP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
Other appointments include Najmal Hoda as ADGP (operations), Mahender Kumar Rathode as ADGP (welfare, DGP's office), K Shankar as Director of Prisons and Correctional Services, Abhin Dinesh Modak as ADGP (Enforcement Bureau CID), and R Dhinakaran as ADGP, Tamil Nadu Police Academy.
At the IGP and DIG levels, Sonal Chandra has been promoted as IGP and posted as IGP, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). G Shashank Sai has been promoted as DIG and posted to the Kancheepuram Range, while Deshmukh Shekar Sanjay has been posted as DIG, Ramanathapuram Range. N Manivannan has been promoted as DIG and posted as Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli, and Ara Arularasu has been promoted and posted as DIG, Villupuram Range.
Officers returning from central deputation also received promotions. Deepak M Damor has been promoted as ADGP, while R V Ramya Bharathi and R Ponni have been promoted as IGPs. Several Superintendents of Police — Georgy George, C Kalaichelvan, P Ve Arun Shakthi Kumar, Aravind Menon, and Omprakash Meena — have been promoted as DIGs.
The large-scale reshuffle is aimed at strengthening leadership across commissionerates, specialised wings, and field formations in the State police force.
