Deepa cries foul after police stop her from entering Veda Nilayam
CHENNAI: It was high drama at Poes Garden on Friday night as J Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar tried to gain access to Veda Nilayam when the I-T searches were on.
Police turned down her request to let her in. She was blocked on the road that leads to Jayalalithaa's residence.
Deepa said she was the rightful owner of the house and she should be let in. "Why are you not allowing me in? Is there an order to prevent me? I am not here to fight," she told police officers.

Jayalalithaa's niece said the I-T department should have notified her and brother, Deepak Jayakumar about the search before entering the premises.
"I would drag the I-T department to court. They cannot break-in and I am here to establish my rights on the ancestral property," she said.
Claiming that the bungalow was still under the control of Sasikala, Deepa said the search seemed to be politically motivated.
"There is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of Jayalalithaa," Deepa said.
"Sasikala family has offered cooperation to hold the search as they would like to portray themselves as the owners of the property," she added.
Deepa has already moved Madras high court challenging the state government's decision to convert Veda Nilayam into a memorial.
