The city registered 77 cybercrime cases in 2022, followed by 340 cases in 2023 and 300 cases in 2024.Cybercrimes are increasing globally due to rapid digitalisation, said Rajendran, a cybercrime expert. "Many offenders operate from foreign countries and use technologies such as the Dark Web, making investigations difficult."The expert added that law enforcement agencies faced challenges in tracing cybercriminals because many of them operated outside the jurisdiction of Indian laws.
