Blue Star revises AC prices by about 3% in April

Chennai: Prices of Blue Star air conditioners will be increased by an additional 2%-3% from this month. The brand with a market share of 13% in value terms across the country has already revised its prices by about 15% over the past one year.
C P Mukundan Menon president & COO — cooling & purifications appliances group of Blue Star Limited attributed the price hike to geopolitical issues, rise in cost of fuel prices, impact on coal and spiraling rates of steel.
“The impact will be around 2%-3% which will be passed on to the consumers from April,” he told a virtual conference with the media. The manufacturer offers a range of window and inverter split air-conditioners within a price bracket of Rs 24,000 to Rs 42,000, he added.
B Thiagarajan MD, Blue Star Ltd said that prices of ‘like-for-like’ models were revised by around 15% between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022. Thiagarajan said the first phase of Blue Star’s manufacturing facility under construction at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh near Chennai will be commissioned by October this year.
“Each phase will have a capacity to manufacture four lakh units and when it is completed, the facility will manufacture 1.2 million units per annum,” he said. TNN
