Two siblings die after eating street food in Tarn Taran
Tarn Taran: Two siblings died under suspicious circumstances in Tarn Taran after falling ill overnight, shortly after eating food from a street vendor. Their parents rushed them to a hospital on Sunday morning, where doctors declared both children dead.The family told police that the children had eaten momos and champ from a roadside rehriwala on Saturday evening. Soon after, they began vomiting. They were given medicine at home and later went to sleep, but did not wake up the next morning.
Based on the parents' statement, police detained the street vendor for questioning. The bodies were shifted to the civil hospital mortuary.The incident took place in DSP Wali Gali in Tarn Taran city. Vishal (40) and his wife Neha (36) said their children—six-year-old Aarav and nine-year-old Danika—had insisted on eating momos and champ that evening. Around 8pm, the children ate the food and later watched television. By 10pm, both began vomiting and complained of uneasiness. They were given anti-vomiting medication kept at home. Around 4am, they fell asleep, and were taken to hospital later, where they were declared brought dead.A police team from the city police station reached the spot soon after being informed.SSP Surendra Lamba said the exact cause of death would be known only after post-mortem and viscera reports. On preliminary findings, he said the mother had also consumed the same food, and others in the locality may have eaten similar items, yet no similar case had been reported so far. Police are examining all possible angles, he added.
