Hisar: In a shocking incident in Sirsa district, a newly-married woman from Punjab allegedly fled her matrimonial home with cash and jewellery. The incident came to light when the family discovered that the valuables were missing after she failed to return home. According to the complaint filed with police, the woman left the house saying she was going to visit her parental home in Ludhiana. However, when her in-laws contacted her family, they were told that she did not reach there. Suspecting foul play, the family informed the police. Based on the statements of the complainants, an FIR was registered and efforts are underway to trace the woman. Police also began tracking the location of her mobile phone, which is currently switched off.
In her complaint, a woman from Chilakni Dhab village in Ellenabad said that her son was married to the 21-year-old woman from a village in Ludhiana district of Punjab on August 13, 2025. The marriage was solemnised without any dowry, she clarified. After the wedding, the family gifted the bride about 4 tolas of gold jewellery, 25 tolas of silver ornaments, and other items. According to the complainant, everything remained normal for the first few days after the marriage.
However, on the morning of Feb 26, the bride reportedly told the family that she was going to visit her parents in a village near Ludhiana. Before leaving, she allegedly took all the gold and silver jewellery, along with Rs 5,000 in cash.

Later, her phone was found switched off. When the in-laws contacted her family, they said she had not reached her parental home. The family claims they searched for her but could not locate her. "They suspect that either someone lured her away or she deliberately left with the valuables. We are invetigating the matter," said a police officer.
