Mohali among top 3 districts in Punjab in PSEB Class 12 results

Mohali: Mohali emerged among the top-performing districts in Punjab in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 12 examinations, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. The district recorded a pass percentage of 93.86%, the third highest in the state. Out of 7,775 students who appeared in the examinations from the district, 7,298 passed.

Simreet Kaur of Govt Senior Secondary School, Majatri, topped district by securing 487 marks out of 500, or 97.4%, in the humanities stream. Daughter of Kuldeep Singh and Charanjit Kaur of Chuhar Majra village near Kharar, Simreet said she studied for six to seven hours daily, increasing it to nearly 10-11 hours during examinations. She credited her parents, teachers and friends for their support. Simreet scored full marks in History and Political Science and said she plans to pursue graduation before preparing for the UPSC examinations.

Saloni of Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Kurali, secured the second position in the district with 486 marks, or 97.2%, in the Science stream. Daughter of Kamaldeep Kumar and Gurpreet Kaur of Singhpura Road, Kurali, she said she mainly depended on self-study and studied for three to four hours daily. Saloni scored 100 marks in Biology, 98 in Physics and 98 in Chemistry. She said she hopes to crack NEET and pursue MBBS in future.

Taranpreet Kaur of Satluj Public School, Bhagomajra, secured 484 marks, or 96.8%, in the humanities stream. Daughter of farmer Sapinder Singh and homemaker Rupinder Kaur from Bharatpur village near Bhagomajra, Taranpreet said she followed a fixed study routine from early morning and studied for seven to eight hours daily during examinations. She said supportive teachers and family encouragement played an important role in her success. Taranpreet plans to pursue graduation and is considering either LLB or competitive examinations as a career option.

Amritpal Kaur of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Kurali, also secured 484 marks, or 96.8%, in the science stream. Daughter of Kulwinder Singh and Harpreet Kaur of Baraudi village, she said she studied for 10-12 hours daily and developed an interest in the medical profession during Classes 8 and 9. Amritpal said she aims to clear NEET and become a doctor. Alongside studies, she enjoys walking and art and craft activities.
