Kangra’s Anmol tops Class X exams in HP; girls outshine boys
Shimla: Anmol, a student of AVM Senior Secondary School, Pahra, in Kangra district, topped the Class X examination, the result for which was declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) in Dharamshala on Sunday.Anmol scored 699 marks out of 700 (99.86%) to top the merit list. The second position was shared by three students – Roohani Dhiman and Abhinav Mehta from Govt Senior Secondary School, Rapoh, in Amb tehsil of Una district, and Purnima Sharma from Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur. The trio scored 698 marks (99.71%) each.Ashwika Sharma from Neelam Public Senior Secondary School, Bihru, in Hamirpur and Alisha Thakur from Oxford School, Kotli, in Mandi district scored 697 marks each (99.57%) to share the third spot.According to HPBOSE, 107 students found a place in the merit list, out of which 77.5% or 83 were girls. While 62 meritorious girl students were from private schools, 21 were from govt schools. Among 24 boys who made the merit list, 21 were from private schools.The overall pass percentage was recorded at 83.87%. A total of 93,661 students appeared for the Class X examination held in March, out of which 78,150 were declared passed, 6,559 failed, and 8,433 got compartment.Addressing a press conference in Dharamshala, HPBOSE Chairman Rajesh Sharma said this year's pass percentage was better than that of the last two years.The pass percentage for Class X was 74.61% in 2024 and 79.8% in 2025, he informed.Sharma said those who failed the examination would be given another chance in June. "Students who failed in two subjects or those who want to improve their marks will be given a chance to retake the exam. This is being done for Class X students on a trial basis in line with the National Education Policy. The failed students will have the opportunity to save their entire academic year," he said.CM congratulates Anmol (BOX)Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu spoke to Anmol over the phone and congratulated her for topping the exam. In a message, the CM also congratulated the students who had successfully cleared the examination. Sukhu also encouraged the students who could not clear the examination.
