Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday directed officials to accord top priority to census-related training, adequate manpower and technological readiness, stressing that these measures were crucial to ensure that the exercise was carried out in a fair, transparent and error-free manner.
The chief secretary chaired a state-level training conference to review preparations for the first phase of Census 2027, which includes house listing and the housing census. He underscored that the Census is a significant national responsibility and must be conducted in a timely and accurate manner through coordinated efforts of all departments concerned.

Detailed discussions were held on the action plan for the first phase and on strategies to ensure effective implementation at the grassroots level. Secretary, general administration department (GAD), Rajesh Sharma, outlined the roles and responsibilities of various departments and officers, highlighting the importance of close coordination among stakeholders for the smooth conduct of census operations.
The meeting was attended by members of the state-level census coordination committee and various officials, including those from the census directorate.
