House pays tribute to boat tragedy victims, Asha Bhosle

Chandigarh: In the obituary reference during the special session, the Punjab assembly on Monday conveyed condolences and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families of the pilgrims from the state who lost their lives in the April 10 Vrindavan boat tragedy in Uttar Pradesh and accident in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh the same day.The House stressed the need for strengthened safety arrangements at religious places to avert such unfortunate incidents in future. The House also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former minister Lal Singh, who passed away on March 28, recalling his dedicated public service and significant contributions towards the development of Punjab, and lauded his long and illustrious political career and his commitment to public welfare. The assembly also paid tributes to renowned singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on April 12, acknowledging her immense contribution to Indian music. Members observed that her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. It also paid homage to the martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, saluting their supreme sacrifice.
