Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann is likely to meet cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora in Gurugram jail on Saturday. Arora was arrested by the
Enforcement Directorate on May 9 in connection with a new money laundering case.
Arora, 62, was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following early morning raids at his official residence in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, Mann is also likely to discuss the party's Punjab affairs with AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in the wake of the upcoming local bodies elections in the state. Kejriwal was in Punjab for two days to hold interactions with the party leaders.
On May 19, a local court in Gurugram sent Arora to judicial custody for two weeks in the alleged Rs 157-crore money laundering case. Arora was produced before the court by the ED after the completion of his two-day extended remand, said an official. The minister's next appearance will be on June 1.
While the portfolios held by Arora have been allocated to three other ministers in the state Cabinet, he continues to be a minister despite the ED action.
