Cleaning on, Golden Temple to get a new shine

Amritsar: The service of cleaning the gold plating at Golden Temple commenced here on Friday after the offering of ardas.The service was entrusted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to Bhai Mahinder Singh, head of the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha, Birmingham.To mark the beginning of cleaning work of the gold plating on the domes of Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said that keeping in view the maintenance and preservation of gold plating at Golden Temple, the washing and cleaning work was undertaken periodically.He said service was carried out voluntarily by the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha of Birmingham under the leadership of Bhai Mahinder Singh, with the support of the Sikh sangat.
