Chandigarh: Reacting to the disruption of a nagar kirtan in New Zealand on Sunday, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president
Sukhbir Singh Badal posted on X that the incident in Tauranga was "deeply concerning".
"Nagar Kirtans are sacred religious processions that promote peace, unity, and community service. The
Sikh community, which always prays for ‘Sarbat Da Bhala' (the welfare of all), showed exemplary restraint at such sensitive moments," he wrote.

Badal urged external affairs minister S Jaishankar to immediately take up the matter diplomatically with the New Zealand govt to protect Sikh religious freedom abroad. "Religious expression must be safe for all. Shiromani Akali Dal stands with our diaspora," he stated in the post.
