Chandigarh: UT police apprehended five juveniles in connection with the murder of 20-year-old
Suraj, who was killed with sharp-edged weapons at Daria village. The accused nursed an old grudge against the victim. Police have seized the weapons used in the murder.
Police said both parties engaged in a scuffle a few days before the murder. They produced the accused before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent them to the juvenile home in Sector 25.
During interrogation, the accused told the police they had no intention of killing Suraj, who died of excessive blood loss after he was attacked in the Daria market area. The accused repeatedly struck Suraj with sharp-edged weapons. The critically injured Suraj collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely and the accused fled from the spot.
Police identified the accused on the basis of CCTV camera footage. The juveniles were formally arrested after interrogation.
