2 killed as truck crashes into stationary trailer
Bahadurgarh: Two persons were killed in a late-night accident after a speeding truck rammed a stationary trailer on the Delhi-Katra Expressway near Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district, police said on Friday. The accident took place around 1 am near Nilothi village when the truck, reportedly moving at high speed, ploughed into a parked trailer from behind. The impact was so severe that the truck's cabin was completely crushed, trapping both the driver and his helper inside.Rescue teams and police rushed to the spot and launched an operation to retrieve the victims. The mangled cabin made access difficult, and the bodies were eventually extricated using hydraulic equipment and a gas cutter after considerable effort. The deceased driver was identified as Gurmeet Singh (26), a resident of Bathinda in Punjab. The identity of the helper is yet to be established, officials said. The bodies have been sent to the civil hospital in Bahadurgarh for postmortem, and the families have been informed. Police have registered a case under Sections 106 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary investigation points to overspeeding and negligence as the likely causes of the fatal crash. Further probe is underway.
