17-yr-old among 2 held, 5 pistols recovered

Kapurthala: Kapurthala police on Sunday claimed to have busted an arms supply module with the arrest of two persons, including a juvenile, and recovered five country-made pistols from their possession.The arrested accused were identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Mehrajwala village in Jalandhar, and a 17-year-old boy.DGP Gaurav Yadav said the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons acted on the directions of foreign-based handlers residing in the Philippines and the UAE.He said the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused procured illegal weapons from Madhya Pradesh and supplied these to criminal gangs. The recovered weapons were intended to be used for firing and extortion activities in the region, the DGP added.Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora said acting on reliable inputs, police teams arrested Ajay Kumar and recovered one pistol from his possession.
