Jay feted for Assam win

Bhubaneswar: Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda, the BJP’s Assam in-charge, received a rousing welcome in Bhubaneswar on his first visit after steering the BJP to a hat-trick victory in the northeastern state. “Due to the success of the double-engine government, the BJP has formed the government in Assam for the third time,” Baijayant said.

Arriving at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, the party vice-president was accorded a grand reception by party workers and taken in a procession to the BJP state office. State president and Rajya Sabha member Manmohan Samal felicitated him.

Baijayant credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the party’s organisational strength and what he termed the success of the “double-engine government” for the victory. He said the mandate reflected people’s faith in the BJP and aligned with Modi’s vision of a developed India. He also thanked Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and party workers for their support.

Samal said Baijayant played a key role in Assam earlier as well and that the party’s system of assigning responsibilities to leaders had delivered results. He described Baijayant’s contribution to Assam win as significant. Several leaders were present at the reception, including MPs Balabhadra Majhi and Sukanta Panigrahi, BJP general secretary (organization) Manas Kumar Mohanty, among others.
