Bhubaneswar: Police in Khurda district launched a QR code-based citizen assistance platform on Friday."As part of the initiative, citizens can access multiple police services, including complaint registration, emergency assistance, mobile theft reporting, senior citizen support, police station location services, feedback mechanisms and other public assistance facilities through QR-based access and WhatsApp support," said IGP (central range) Satyajit Naik.According to SP (Khurda) Vivekananda Sharma, "We also launched a programme, police mitra, and unveiled a dedicated logo. This is a significant step to strengthen police-public partnership and promote community-oriented policing," Sharma said. The SP said the initiative's aim is to enhance coordination between police and citizens by providing instant access to essential police services through a technology-enabled and citizen-friendly platform. "The service facilitates prompt public assistance, encourages community participation in policing activities and strengthens mutual trust and cooperation between the police and the community," Sharma said. The ‘police mitra' initiative will highlight public participation in maintaining peace, preventing crime, promoting awareness and ensuring effective grievance redressal. "We urge citizens to actively associate with the ‘police mitra' initiative and work together with the police for building a safer and more secure society," the SP said.
