MP’s Nupur shines bright, clinches gold at Kumar Surendra Singh meet
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s Nupur Kumrawat produced a composed and high‑quality performance to finish on top in the 50m Rifle Prone Women event at the 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship, now underway at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bhopal.
Nupur led a closely contested field with a score of 624.3, fending off a strong challenge from Army Marksmanship Unit shooter Priya, who took second place with 623.9. Maharashtra’s Bhakti Bhaskar Khamkar clinched the bronze with 622.2, while Punjab’s Anjum Moudgil finished fourth with 621.7. Gujarat’s Lajjakumari Tilakpuri Gauswami placed fifth with 620.0, followed by Kerala’s Vidarsa K Vinod in sixth with 619.2. Gujarat’s Pallavi Suthar finished seventh with 618.9, and Railways’ Ayushi Podder rounded off the top eight with 618.3.
In the 50m Rifle Prone Junior Women event, Tamil Nadu’s M.A. Akschadha Aiswarya delivered an impressive display to win the title with 618.2. Punjab’s Nimrat Kaur Brar finished second with 617.7, and Madhya Pradesh’s Pratha Rathod took third with 617.6. Madhya Pradesh’s Yugeshwari Bais was fourth with 616.6, followed by Punjab’s Pranjali in fifth with 616.3. Rajasthan’s Khushi Jadeja matched the same score to finish sixth, while NCC’s Bhumi Sanjay Mahajan placed seventh with 615.3. Chandigarh’s Geet completed the top eight with 615.2.
Aiswarya also repeated her fine form in the 50m Rifle Prone Youth Women category, completing a notable double by topping the event with the identical score of 618.2. Nimrat Kaur Brar again finished runner‑up with 617.7, and Pratha Rathod took third with 617.6. Yugeshwari Bais once more finished fourth with 616.6, while Pranjali and Khushi Jadeja shared fifth and sixth positions at 616.3. Bhumi Sanjay Mahajan took seventh with 615.3, and Geet ended eighth with 615.2.
