BHOPAL: The police, on Saturday, registered a dowry death case against husband of 23-year-old woman, who allegedly hanged herself at her parent's home in Bag-Sewania locality on June 16.

Shruti, a resident of Bag-Sewania died by hanging herself in front of her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter at her parent's home on June 16, when her parents and brother had gone out for work.

Abhishek, a resident of Hoshangabad, on a social media platform and fell in love. In December 2019 they tied a knot.
"After recording statements of her family members it was revealed that Abhishek was pressuring her for dowry. He was demanding Rs 1 lakh to start a business as he was unemployed," said ACP Mishra adding that on basis of her family members’ statements a case of dowry death was registered against the accused and he was arrested.
On June 16, Shruti had returned to her parent's home along with kid, about eight days before the incident. The ACP said that Shruti's parents tried to settle things between the couple in the past as well. A case was registered and investigations are on. TNN
