BHOPAL: Home minister Umashankar Gupta said district-level inventories of available resources should be prepared for dealing with floods and other calamities. Gupta was reviewing progress of State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) constituted in the state to deal with natural disasters here on Tuesday.The home minister said swimming should be taught to people of flood prone areas and they should be apprised of other measures also. He said that swimming should be included in training of police constables and home guards. Additional chief secretary home IS Dani informed that there is a proposal to purchase various equipments for dealing with possible calamities at an expenditure of Rs 21 crore.
He informed that about 900 jawans will be deployed in SDERF. DGP Nandan Dube, DG home guards RK Shukla and ADGP disaster management Vijay Kumar also put forth suggestions in the meeting.
