Kanpur : Residents experienced hotter weather conditions on Friday as the
maximum temperature climbed to 35.2 degrees Celsius, nearly five degrees
higher than Thursday’s temperature. Despite the rise in daytime heat, the
night remained comparatively cool with the minimum temperature settling at
18.2 degrees Celsius, which was 6.6 degrees below normal.
According to Dr. S. Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University,
temperatures in Kanpur are expected to rise gradually over the next two
days, while the sky is likely to remain mainly clear or partly cloudy. He
said there was a possibility of light drizzle or isolated thunderstorms on
Friday, but from Saturday onwards sunshine would intensify, leading to
hotter conditions.
Pandey stated that the temperature, which hovered around 35.2 degrees
Celsius on Friday, could rise sharply to nearly 41 degrees Celsius by
Sunday. He cautioned that the heat would be felt most intensely between
noon and 4 pm and advised people to take precautions while venturing
outdoors during afternoon hours.
He further informed that light to moderate winds are expected over the next
48 hours. Wind speeds on Saturday may touch 20 kmph, increasing the
likelihood of blowing dust in several parts of the city. Although no
official heatwave warning has been issued so far, the onset of dry westerly
winds from Sunday is expected to create a pronounced sensation of hot
weather.
Despite the relatively cool night, residents felt increased discomfort
during the day due to high humidity levels, with maximum relative humidity
recorded at 81 per cent.
Meanwhile, according to the weather forecast issued by the India
Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions in Kanpur division on
Saturday are expected to remain partly cloudy with mild sunshine. Owing to
high humidity levels, temperatures are likely to stay below average for
this period.
