Accused involved in necrophilia on MBA student, reveals Indore police
Indore: Police in Indore said their investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old MBA student revealed that the accused allegedly bought beer after killing her, returned to the room and drank while sitting beside the body before sexually assaulting the corpse and engaging in necrophilia. Investigators said the accused also attempted to engage in occult practices while on the run because he wanted to ‘communicate with the dead woman's spirit,' he claimed during questioning. The body of the girl was recovered on Feb 13 from a room rented by her boyfriend, Piyush Dhamnodiya, in Indore's Dwarkapuri area, three days after she was reported missing. Police traced Dhamnodiya, who was also her classmate, to Mumbai, where he was arrested from Andheri on Feb 14."During interrogations, the arrested accused Piyush Dhamnodiya said that he first tied her hands and legs, stuffed cloth into her mouth and strangled her inside his rented room. After ensuring she had died, he left the room, bought beer bottles and returned, where he sat drinking beside the body. He later sexually assaulted the corpse and engaged in necrophilia. He then stabbed her in the chest before leaving the room," said DCP Krishna Lalchandani said the accused's behaviour after the crime remained erratic.Police said the accused fled from Indore on a train and kept changing them before he reached Mumbai.Investigators said he travelled to a deserted location near Panvel in Mumbai, lit incense sticks and watched online videos about summoning spirits. P 4In the darkness, he allegedly muttered apologies and claimed he wanted to communicate with the victim's spirit within hours of the killing. He said that he also tried to jump in front of a train to kill himself but could not do so, said DCP.Cops said, during interrogation at Dwarkapuri police station the accused asked for a blank sheet of paper and wrote that he had committed a grave wrong and wanted to die. He claimed he loved the girl and repeatedly requested officers to let him meet her. DCP said that he had been watching occult content and searching for suicide methods online, though he never acted on those searches.Investigators also learned that the accused suspected the victim was speaking to other men.Meanwhile, Dwarkapuri police took the accused to the crime scene where the things used by him to commit the crime were seized. The scene was also recreated, said police.DCP said that the accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
