Three Bengaluru students in NSS camp drowned in lake

Three students studying for their BA degree in a city college and part of a national service scheme (NSS) camp drowned in Ravuthahalli lake in Harohalli, Kanakapura Taluk in Ramanagaram district on Friday.

BENGALURU: Three students studying for their BA degree in a city college and part of a national service scheme (NSS) camp drowned in Ravuthahalli lake in Harohalli, Kanakapura Taluk in Ramanagaram district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Balagopala Reddy, ( II year) , Kiran V , (III year) and Harish, (III year) had gone to swim in the lake near the NSS camp after having lunch with four of their friends.

The trio who knew swimming ventured deep into the lake but drowned due to heavy silt on the lake bottom, police said.
The other students accompanying them shouted for help and people who noticed rushed to the lake side and also informed the police. The local police rushed to the spot and with the help of local swimmers managed to recover the bodies.
According to the police the trio were part of the 38 students of government first grade college in Yediyur who had participated in the NSS camp in Annapoorneshwari Ashram in Dodda Maralawadi .
The Harohalli police have taken up a un-natural death cases and waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact reason for the death.
