Teen told to keep off phone, dies by suicide

A class 9 student ended his life by suicide after his parents told him not to waste too much time browsing on his mobile phone and instead concentrate on his studies.

The incident occurred on Sunday when 15-year-old Lokesh, of Chittavalahall village near Gauribidanur, argued with his family, walked out of the house in a huff and hanged himself from a tree.

Police sources said his father, a farmer, wanted the boy to focus on academics instead of getting distracted by his phone.
