BENGALURU:
Vishal Sikka has undertaken the biggest restructuring in Infosys since he took over CEO in August last year. He has reorganized the company's delivery function and reshuffled the responsibilities of a number of top executives.
Michael Reh, a colleague of Sikka at SAP who now heads Infosys' banking product Finacle, has replaced Sanjay Purohit as head of its products & platforms subsidiary, EdgeVerve Systems.
Reh will continue to look after Finacle. Sources said EdgeVerve will get a CEO soon. He will report to Reh. EdgeVerve is modelled like a software product startup, very distinct from Infosys' main services business. The change appears to have been driven by the rather lacklustre performance of EdgeVerve. The contribution of the products & platforms business to overall revenues has barely increased over the past several years. Turns here
Michael Reh, with his background in SAP, a product company, is seen as a better bet. Purohit has been moved to a delivery function; he will be the head of management consulting services. Infosys Lodestone CEO Ronald Hafner and Eric Rich, VP & unit head of management consulting services, will report to Purohit. Ravi Kumar, EVP and global head of insurance, healthcare, cards and payments, is now the head of delivery, reporting to COO U B Pravin Rao. Delivery has been restructured; it was previously associated with different industry verticals but is now organized around seven service lines - digital integration services, application development & maintenance, engineering services, cloud & infrastructure services, independent validation & testing, enterprise package application services, and management consulting services.
"Delivery will be organized around service lines with a clear focus on nurturing innovation to drive service line differentiation across industry segments," the company said. All the service lines heads will report to Kumar.
Kumar's current responsibility has been divided between financial services head Mohit Joshi and life sciences and services head Manish Tandon. Joshi has got the additional responsibilities of cards and payments, while Tandon will be responsible for insurance and healthcare.
The company's HR head, Srikantan Moorthy, has been moved to a delivery role. He will be in charge of application development and maintenance, and of independent validation and testing. Infosys will appoint a new HR head shortly.
EdgeVerve COO Samson David has replaced Vishnu Bhat as the head of cloud and infrastructure services. Bhat, who was the senior VP and head of cloud, quit Infosys recently.
The $8.2-billion IT company has created a new role called the chief information officer (CIO). V G Dheeshjith, SVP and head of the growth market unit, will hold the post. He will be in charge of computer communications division, information systems, and the security group.
The realignment, announced at the two-day strategic and action planning meeting that concluded in Mysore on Thursday, is effective April 1.
