BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (
KSRTC) on Tuesday felicitated driver M Manjunath, who saved two children from drowning in a lake near Handigunte gate in Tumakuru's Sira taluk on Sunday.
KSRTC managing director V Anbukkumar honoured Manjunath in the presence of his family with Rs 10,000 cash prize and an appreciation letter, saying he is "KSRTC's pride and honour".
"Manjunath is a living example that there are still human values left in the world. Many professional swimmers would think twice before diving into the water to save others' lives. But Manjunath, seeing the mother of the two children running towards the bus from the lake pleading to save their lives, stopped the bus immediately and jumped into the lake to save the daughters. There were 40 passengers in that bus, but no one came forward to do what Manjunath did," Anbukkumar said.
