Bengaluru: A 39-year-old-homemaker and her parents were killed while her husband and two children sustained injuries when their Toyota Crysta rammed a Maruti Omni that took a sudden turn on Hiriyur-Challakere highway in Tumakuru district Thursday afternoon.
The deceased are R Soumya and her parents, Ganeshwar Reddy, 68, and Indiramma Reddy, 65. Soumya’s husband, Ravi Kumar, a software engineer, and their two children, Charit Reddy, 6, and Charvi Reddy, 10, were admitted to a hospital. Hailing from Kadapa, the family was driving back from Mysuru when the accident occurred around 1pm, police said.
Just before the accident, the family had stopped at Huliyar bus stand to drink tender coconuts. “The vehicle was moving in the direction of Hiriyur and Ravi Kumar was behind the wheel. On reaching Kenkere Gollarahatti junction, it rammed the Maruti Omni that took a sudden turn in the middle of the road and toppled,” an investigating officer said.
