Bengaluru airport theft suspect evading court hearings arrested after 8 years
Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman, who was evading court hearings for eight years after allegedly stealing luxury items at Kempegowda International Airport, has been arrested.
Mun Mun Husen, a resident of Indiranagar, was apprehended following a routine patrol operation.
In 2018, Mun Mun was allegedly caught stealing a Fossil wristwatch, worth over Rs 21,000, and a portable power bank from a shop on the airport premises. Based on the shop owner’s complaint, she was arrested.
KIA police filed a chargesheet in court, establishing prima facie evidence of theft against her. Mun Mun secured bail and attended the first few mandatory court hearings. However, she soon stopped appearing before the magistrate and went incommunicado. Due to her continuous absence, the court declared her an absconder and issued a non-bailable warrant for her arrest.
Indiranagar police, during a local security sweep, spotted Mun Mun behaving suspiciously. When questioned, her evasive answers prompted police to take her into custody for interrogation and a background check revealed her status as a fugitive.
