Vaiteeshwaran S, CEO Manipal Global Education Services, and Ramdas Kamath, senior vice-president, Infosys Technologies were also a part of the group.
"I have been living in Bangalore for seven years and I feel the city is safe. But there is a need to seek reassurance for women's safety," said Sejal Shah Gulati, CEO, TAS Analytic Services Private Limited, who marched with members of her team.
Later, B.PAC members submitted a memorandum to the government for speedy implementation of crucial initiatives like setting up of special fast track courts and grievance redressal cells, implementation of stringent laws, enhancement of judicial capacity and safety in schools. They urged that sexual harassment against women at the workplace must be prevented.
"There is an alarming rise in crimes such as rape and sexual assault on women across the country. It is shameful that the nation has not been able to put together a comprehensive framework for making the country safer for our women and girls," read the memorandum.
Other demands included intensifying police patrolling, setting up district-level ombudsmen to deal with harassment against women, a 24/ 7 women's helpline and sensitization programmes for judges.
