No network areas in Sambhajinagar to finally get official attention
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: While scores of residents are living in areas of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar where tap water is still a distant dream, the local civic body has decided to pay attention to their woes on priority basis.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar municipal commissioner Amol Yedge has said that separate guidelines will be prepared for providing tap connections in no-network areas.
“Out of the 19 overhead tankers that have come up as a part of the new water supply project, 10 have been constructed in no-network areas. Therefore, it has been decided to give tap connections to the citizens in these respective areas on priority basis,” he said.
Yedge also said that pending works, if any, related to laying down of internal pipeline and other components in no-network areas will be also expedited with the help from Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), which is the project implementing agency.
Meanwhile, different authorities have been taking efforts to offer push to pending works of the new Rs2,750 crore water supply project and allied schemes for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The push is being offered to meet the deadline of June 12 set by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court to offer 50 MLD additional water to the city to improve frequency of the water supply in network areas.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisional commissioner G Sreekanth on Saturday reviewed the ongoing water supply scheme works and pressed for the necessary compliance. He also visited the 392 MLD capacity water treatment plant at Nakshatrawadi to inspect the works firsthand and held discussions with concerned officials to assess the project’s progress.
“Detailed discussions were held regarding the current status of the project’s various components, the progress of remaining tasks, and the measures required to commence the water supply. The critical importance of completing the remaining works of the water supply scheme within the stipulated time frame were reiterated during the meeting. All the authorities and private contractors were asked to work in coordination,” a press release said quoting Sreekanth.
The divisional commissioner further clarified that if any legal or administrative hurdles arise during the project’s implementation, the concerned agencies must coordinate with his office before taking any action.
