Prayagraj: In a unique gesture, a group of women in Pratapgarh district vowed to protect the environment by planting saplings and saving trees on the occasion of International Women's Day, on Sunday.
Under the banner of an organisation-Paryavaran Sena, a group of rural women in Padmakarpur village highlighted their role in environmental protection. They stressed the need to make every woman aware of the importance of water, forest, and land conservation, spreading the message of environment protection.
Ajay Krantikari, head of the organisation, said that women play a vital role in environmental protection.
Without women's participation, it is impossible to protect the earth from pollution.
He said that rural women bear the brunt of increasing pollution and the water crisis. As heads of households, women's initiatives must be acknowledged by everyone.
He urged all women to empower themselves and inspire their children to conserve water and the environment. Just as women are leading in all fields today, with the same energy and determination, they need to come forward to plant and protect more trees to overcome problems such as pollution and climate change.
He said that, along with preventing plastic pollution, protecting wildlife, water conservation, and rainwater harvesting, women joined forces with the Paryavaran Sena in planting and protecting trees. ‘Green Power' did a commendable work. Sanju Devi, Seema, Janaki Devi, Prema Devi, Vimala Devi, and others were present on this occasion.
