Prayagraj: The Prayagraj police have filed a chargesheet against slain mafia don
Atiq Ahmed's sons, Mohammad Umar and Ali Ahmed, and his wife and others in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police gunners in Sulem Sarai on Feb 24, 2023.
The chargesheet was filed under the Gangsters Act in a special court by the Dhoomanganj police on Tuesday.
Mohammad Umar and Ali Ahmed are accused of hatching a conspiracy to murder Pal and his gunners. While Umar is lodged in Lucknow jail Ali has been recently shifted to Jhansi jail from Naini jail.
The chargesheet was filed against Umar and Ali, along with Atiq's lawyer Vijay Mishra, Khan Saulat Hanif, brother-in-law Akhlaq Ahmed, Sadaqat Khan, Atiq's wife Shaista Parveen, sister Ayesha Noori, shooters Guddu Muslim, Mohammad Arman and Sabir, among others.
However, Shaista Parveen and Ayesha Noori are absconding. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced on the arrest of Shaista Parveen and Rs 25,000 on Ayesha Noori.
The three shooters, Guddu Muslim, Mohammad Arman and Sabir, are also at large. A reward of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced by the govt on them.
Umesh Pal and his two police security guards - Sandeep Nishad and Raghvendra Singh- were shot dead on Feb 24, 2023, outside his home in the Dhoomanganj police station area of Prayagraj.
On a complaint lodged by Pal's wife Jaya Pal, a case was registered at Dhoomanganj police station against Atiq, his brother Ashraf, two sons, aides - Guddu Muslim and Gulam-- and nine others.
Atiq's third son Asad was killed in a police encounter. Later, Atiq and his brother Ashraf were also shot dead on April 15, 2023, when they were being brought to Colvin Hospital in police custody for routine medical check-up.
