Addressing the National Defence Industries Conclave, he said evolving global conflicts have clearly demonstrated the growing importance of drones and counter-drone systems in modern warfare. Singh stressed that India must not only manufacture drones but also produce key components domestically, including engines, batteries, and software. Highlighting government-backed initiatives like iDEX and ADITI, he noted the rising role of startups and MSMEs in defence innovation. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting private sector participation in transforming India into a global drone manufacturing hub.
