‘Patriot’: Mohanlal and Mammootty starrer espionage thriller to open at the 24th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles
Malayalam cinema titans Mohanlal and Mammootty reunite after 18 years in the espionage thriller ‘Patriot,’ set to premiere at the 24th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. The film, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, features a star-studded cast and promises a gripping narrative. IFFLA will showcase 27 diverse South Asian films from April 23-26.
The upcoming espionage thriller ‘Patriot,’ starring two Malayalam superstars, Mohanlal and Mammootty will open the 24th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. The film is a special project, especially for the fans, as it marks the reunion of the heavyweights after over 18 years.Speaking about the festival, IFFLA will screen 27 films this year. These include seven feature films, two documentary films, and 18 short films. The films come from many places, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the USA. The festival is known for showing South Asian stories to people in America. It is scheduled from April 23 to 26.

About ‘Patriot’

Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, ‘Patriot’ features Mammootty as a retired JAG officer on a mission to clear his name and protect the country. Mohanlal plays a battle-hardened officer. In addition to them, the film will also include Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, Revathy and Rajeev Menon in key roles.

The makers have unveiled multiple posters of the film, which feature the main cast.
Another poster includes the Malayalam cinema legends seen in an ambush. Mohanlal can be seen taking aim with his rifle from the sunroof while Mammootty points the gun from the passenger’s seat and Fahadh Faasil handles the steering wheel. The movie is set to hit theaters worldwide on April 23, 2026. Sushin Shyam composed the music.On the work front, Mohanlal was last seen in the family drama ‘Hridayapoorvam’ and has multiple projects in his pipeline, including the much-anticipated suspense thriller ‘Drishyam 3’. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s psychological thriller ‘Kalamkaval’ was also released in 2025.
