Gandhinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah said that the electorate in West Bengal, which the BJP won recently, voted in favour of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls and against infiltration. He also said that the PM-Modi led Union govt has established the fact that citizens of the country should decide its future and not infiltrators.Speaking at an event at Maa Umiyadham campus after inaugurating separate hostels for boys and girls, Shah also said that the development of the Patidar community over the past 75 years is a case of study, as very few communities have transformed themselves in the manner that the Patidar community has.“When West Bengal CM took oath of office, between 5,000 and 10,000 infiltrators were entering the state daily. Today, the same number is going back. When the ECI started the SIR process, Rahul Gandhi and associated parties resorted to the ‘vote chori’ campaign and filed several cases,” Shah said.He added, “The Bengal electorate has shown that not only are they in support of the SIR, but also that they do not want infiltration. The SC also validated the SIR, saying it was constitutionally valid.
The Modi govt has established the fact that the citizens of the country should have the right to decide its future. Infiltrators cannot decide the country’s future.”Commenting on the contribution of the Patidar community, Shah said Gujarat’s development and the Patidar community’s development have taken place together. “The Patidar community has a huge contribution in Gujarat’s development. It is a case for study. Very few communities have transformed themselves in the way that the Patidar community has,” he said.Shah said the Patidar community has assumed leadership in sectors like agriculture, education, textiles, ceramics, diamond, pharmaceuticals and real estate.
