Verbal spat turns violent, Vasna man suffers injuries

Ahmedabad: A 36-year-old man from Vasna area of the city filed a police complaint alleging that he was assaulted by four acquaintances after objecting to repeated verbal abuse and mockery during an argument at a local ground.According to the complaint lodged with Vasna police, the incident took place on Thursday when the complainant was sitting with a friend at a ground in the area. During the conversation, the friend allegedly began hurling insults and making casual abusive remarks. When the complainant objected, an argument broke out between the two.The complainant alleged that the verbal altercation soon turned violent, with the friend allegedly kicking and punching him. He further stated that the friend then called his relatives to the spot.As per the complaint, the friend was soon joined by his relatives, who allegedly assaulted the complainant. One of the accused allegedly struck him on the left knee and back with a wooden stick, while another attacked him with a sharp weapon, injuring his left cheek and causing bleeding.The complainant stated that bystanders intervened and the accused fled the spot thereafter. He was rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment, following which he approached Vasna police and registered a complaint.
