Tycoon accused of unnatural sex, marital rape denied bail
Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Monday denied bail to a businessman from Gurugram who was arrested after his wife’s allegations of forced unnatural sex and repeated marital rape, suspicion, cruelty and dowry demands. The woman, who lives in Ahmedabad and is a chartered accountant, filed a complaint with the DCB crime branch last year against her husband and in-laws. She also alleged that her husband gave burns on her private parts with cigarettes. They married in 2022. While it was the first marriage for the woman, it was the man’s second. The woman alleged that the man’s first wife too had levelled similar allegations.
The husband had unsuccessfully sought anticipatory bail from high court, stating he is a business tycoon and multimillionaire, who runs a business of corporate guest houses. He surrendered earlier this month and was remanded to police custody for four days.
Public prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt opposed his bail plea and pointed to the allegations levelled by the wife regarding the husband’s behaviour.
After the hearing, city sessions judge P B Patel stated, “After marriage, the applicant/accused started torturing the complainant and when the complainant was waiting at the airport for catching a flight to go to her parental home, the applicant/accused constantly made video calls and started chatting with her and inquired about the person who is sitting beside her, his age and constantly had a watch on her. Whenever the complainant moved to any other place, she had to send him the photo and live location and also had to share about the people who surrounded her.”
The court further stated, “The husband also demanded unnatural sex and forcefully indulged in the physical relation. Hence, considering the FIR, heinous crime of mental and physical torture to the complainant. This is a fit case of torture and physical abuse to wife. Hence, considering all the facts and circumstances of the case, this court declines to grant the present application.”
