PTC college prof suspended for misconduct with student in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A professor at PTC College (Sheth CN Training College), operating within the Sheth CN Vidyalaya campus in Ambawadi, has been suspended after being accused of inappropriate physical conduct with a first-year female student during an examination.The alleged incident took place on March 20, when the student was appearing for her exam. The accused professor reportedly held the student's hand and behaved inappropriately, causing her distress. The student then informed her parents, who approached the college authorities with a complaint. The college administration, however, allegedly failed to act for four to five days after the complaint was lodged. With no response forthcoming, the student's parents escalated the matter to the District Education Officer's office. The DEO office acted promptly, issuing a notice to the college management and principal directing them to appear in person on March 30 with a detailed inquiry report. The notice also sought clarification on the timeline of events, including when the incident occurred, when the complaint was first made, and why the administration was negligent in its response. Following the DEO's intervention, the college management suspended the accused professor and announced the formation of an internal inquiry committee to investigate the matter. In an official statement, the management said a written complaint has now been obtained from the student and forwarded to the DEO office. College director Vaishali Shah said, "The incident took place on March 20, but since the student made a written complaint narrating the incident in detail on Friday, we suspended the faculty member immediately. The teacher has been with the institute for the last 20 years." DEO Rohit Chaudhary said such incidents will not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that strict action will be taken based on the findings, and accountability will be fixed for any lapses, including administrative negligence.
