Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has released the final answer key for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET), announcing additional grace marks after errors were identified in the Chemistry paper. With the revision, candidates will receive enhanced grace marks ahead of the declaration of results.
Earlier, the provisional answer key had pointed out errors in three questions for Gujarati and Hindi medium students and four questions for English medium students. However, after examining objections submitted by candidates, the board detected one more error in the Chemistry section. Consequently, Gujarati and Hindi medium candidates will now be awarded four grace marks, while English medium students will receive five grace marks.
Apart from this, the board clarified that two answer options were found to be correct for three questions. Students who selected either of the correct options in these questions will be granted full marks.
The GujCET examination was conducted on March 29 for admissions to engineering and pharmacy programmes, with the provisional answer key released on April 4. Initially, grace marks were announced for errors identified in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry papers, along with a specific error in the Biology paper for English medium students.
The objection window remained open until April 8, during which subject experts reviewed all representations submitted by candidates before finalizing the answer key. The identification of an additional Chemistry error led to a revision in the grace marks policy.
The move ensures that students are not put at a disadvantage due to discrepancies in the question papers and reflects the board's efforts to maintain fairness and transparency in the evaluation process.
With the final answer key now published, the GujCET results are expected shortly.
