The state legal department on Tuesday finalized names of special public prosecutors in two cases that the Special Investigation Team has been probing for the last one year .

:The state legal department on Tuesday finalized names of special publicprosecutors in two cases that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has beenprobing for the last one year ��� Gulbarg Society massacre and one of thetwo communal riot cases related to Ode killings.The legal departmentsecretary said senior advocate RK Shah will look after the Gulbarg Society case,and advocate Naina Bhatt will be assisting her, and the Malav Bhagol case in Odewill be conducted on behalf of the state government by advocate BipinTrivedi.The appointments in these two cases have taken place 15 daysafter names of public prosecutors in seven other cases were announced on June 8.According to sources, the delay in deciding names in the Gulbarg Society casewas caused due to protest from certain corners against nomination of advocateShah's name.Shah is a senior advocate and has recently representedthe CBI in the infamous Bilkis Banu case, which was conducted in Mumbaifollowing the Supreme Court's order. Despite representations made by aparticular lobby of legal fraternity, SIT remained firm on its selection and thelegal department cleared his name on Tuesday. His assistant, NainaBhatt, has recently conducted the controversial Patan DIET multiple gang rapecase, wherein the court convicted all the six accused teachers and sentencedthem to life imprisonment.
