AGRA: In Kasganj district, two siblings were smothered to death by an unknown person.
The bodies of two kids Umang (3) and Palak (5) were recovered from a corn field in Bhujpura village of Sidhpura police jurisdiction on Monday.
Based on the written complaint of the victims' father Shyam Gopal, the local police have booked nine persons including women for the alleged murder.
According to superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Singh, "The victims' father himself is accused of murdering two men and has been on bail since December. He believes that his kids have been murdered out of enmity and rivalry. A police team is investigating the matter."
Meanwhile, the bodies of the two children have been sent for post-mortem. The two were missing since Sunday evening. According to sources, the right eyes of both the kids were gouged out.
Police have also detained two men in the case, but no fruitful evidence establishes the killers' identities.
"It's not yet clear how the children went missing on Sunday evening. All the accused booked in the FIR were at home, so it is difficult to pin the guilt on the culprits.
We are talking to family members of the victims to see if they had received any kind of threat in recent times," said official source.
Police said Shyam Gopal and his two brother-in-laws had killed two men back to back in 2014 and 2015, later all were out on bail. "The enmity angle is being probed, but the case does not look too simple. There might be possibility of the victims' relatives involvement in it and we are investigating that too," police said.
