Agra: A para commando in the special force, posted in Pathankot, was killed and three of his friends were critically injured after their SUV crashed into a tree at Sadabad in Hathras on early Friday. The 32-year-old is survived by his parents, wife, five-year-old daughter and a four-month-old son.Police said Yogendra Singh, 32, from Gudera village in Raya area of Mathura district, was returning to Mathura with his friends -- Vishnu Kumar, Satyaveer Singh and Jeetu Singh -- after celebrating Holi at another friend's house in Hathras.Yogendra's elder brother, Dharmender Singh, said, "On leave, Yogendra had returned home 25 days ago. After the incident, he was admitted to Military Hospital in Mathura. Around 7am, he passed away. Yogendra joined the Army in 2011. He was about to complete 15 years of service on March 31, 2026, and was planning to take VRS."According to the locals, around 3am on Friday, a vehicle carrying four men suddenly veered off near a temple turn on Sadabad-Raya road and crashed into a roadside neem tree. The impact was so severe that the SUV was left mangled and the occupants all critically injured.
DSP (Sadabad), Amit Pathak, said, "The commando's family took him to Mathura. He died during treatment there. Others were shifted to Agra. No complaint has been filed yet. A police investigation is on."(Inputs from Sumit Sharma in Hathras)
