Agra: An MBBS intern was allegedly dragged and beaten by security guards at the gate of Begrajpur Medical College in Muzaffarnagar, triggering protests by medical students on Saturday after videos of the incident surfaced on social media.
The incident took place on Friday evening when the intern, identified as Deepanshu Saini, arrived at the campus in his car and was stopped by security personnel over a parking issue. Students alleged that the argument escalated into violence, with multiple guards assaulting him with sticks.
Videos circulating online show the intern being thrashed, reportedly leaving him injured. Following the incident, students staged demonstrations on campus, demanding strict action against those involved. They also accused some security personnel of misconduct and corruption, alleging routine harassment of students over vehicle entry.
Circle officer (Khatauli) Ramashish Yadav said the incident fell under the jurisdiction of Mansoorpur police station. He confirmed that a complaint had been received in the matter and that a case under BNS section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) had been registered. Further investigation is underway.
An MBBS student, requesting anonymity, said Saini was stopped at the campus gate, misbehaved with, and abused by a security guard. After a brief altercation, several guards allegedly gathered and assaulted him.
The student claimed the intern was forced to lie down and beaten repeatedly, both outside the gate and after being taken inside the campus, with belts, wipers, cables, and other objects.
