Agra to come up with int’l indoor sports stadium
Agra: The Agra administration has given in-principle approval to proceed with the establishment of an international indoor sports stadium in the city, citing Agra's global tourism profile and the emergence of international-level sports talent from the region, officials said on Wednesday.The decision was taken at the 151st board meeting of the Agra Development Authority (ADA), chaired by divisional commissioner Shailendra Kumar Singh, on Tuesday. Officials said the ADA recorded total receipts of Rs 891 crore and expenditure of Rs 543 crore up to Dec 31, 2025, in the current financial year. For 2026-27, the authority has projected receipts of Rs 1,549 crore and expenditure of Rs 1,174 crore.The board also reviewed compliance reports of earlier decisions and directed officials to prevent encroachment on land transferred from the urban ceiling department across various parts of the city. Interim measures such as fencing and the development of temporary parks were recommended."Issues related to stormwater drainage in the Shastripuram and UP State Industrial Development Corporation areas, development of transit-oriented development zones under the Amrut geographic information system-based master plan and the allocation of vacant units in the Shoe Plaza were also discussed," an official said.
Progress on housing projects was reviewed, with the commissioner directing a reassessment of pricing for unsold flats in the Shastripuram Heights project.Other matters taken up in the meeting included the feasibility of a logistics park, PPP-based operation of the Soorsadan auditorium, development of a cultural venue at Mehtab Bagh and a review of major infrastructure projects, including the second phase of the Agra Inner Ring Road and land acquisition for the Atalpuram township.
