Silchar: Police in Assam’s Cachar district on Wednesday carried out two simultaneous operations, seizing 20,000 yaba tablets with an estimated street value of around Rs 3 crore and arresting four persons.Acting on specific intelligence, teams launched coordinated raids in Harinagar under Katigora police station limits and at Jaydhanpur under Dholai police station jurisdiction.

In the Harinagar operation, police arrested Sajahan Ahmed, Kamran Hossain and Moktadir Ahmed Barbhuiya. Officers recovered 10,000 yaba tablets weighing about 10,750 grams from them, officials said.In the second raid at Jaydhanpur, Saddam Hussain Barbhuiya was nabbed after police searched his sister’s house and recovered another 10,000 yaba tablets. The accused allegedly attempted to flee on spotting the police but was overpowered after a brief chase.All four have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other members of the drug trafficking network operating in the region.
